Bringing the Heart Back to Healthcare: Copywriting for Spiralling Upwards Health & Wellness
Project Overview
When Zephyr approached me, they were facing a challenge that so many heart-led entrepreneurs hit: they had a beautiful, deeply impactful business, but their website copy felt cold, sterile, and entirely detached from who they actually are.
While their new website is currently being designed and built around my words, this case study breaks down the strategic copy overhaul we executed to transform their digital presence into a warm, safe, and deeply authentic space.
The Challenge
Zephyr is a queer, nonbinary, and neurodivergent integrative health coach, personal trainer, and bodywork practitioner. They create safe, deeply healing spaces for people who have felt completely invisible, dismissed, or burned by traditional medicine.
They brought me what they lovingly called "verbal chaos", a massive, meandering backstory filled with deep passion and incredible clinical expertise. They needed a writer who could step into that chaos, find the golden threads, and spin them into copy that felt less like a clinical textbook and more like an open, supportive conversation.
My mission was to make their copy clear, compelling, and incredibly easy to read, without losing an ounce of the soul, identity, and values that make Zephyr's work so vital.
The Strategy & Execution
1. Finding the Story in the Chaos
Instead of hiding Zephyr’s lived experience behind standard, boring professional bio templates, we put it front and center. I took their history as a dancer navigating chronic pain and turned it into a bridge of empathy for their future clients. We shifted the perspective from a detached medical authority to an honest, lived-experience partnership.
2. Trading Jargon for Human Connection
I systematically stripped away the rigid, deficit-based language commonly found in traditional health spaces.
The Old Way: Talking about "fixing symptoms" or treating people like a "puzzle to be solved".
The New Way: Inviting people to "listen to their bodies," look for "patterns," and move toward "autonomy and joy".
We anchored the entire brand voice in one grounding, human truth:
"You are not a puzzle to be solved, you are a whole human to be heard."
3. Making Complex Services Welcome and Clear
Zephyr does a lot—integrative coaching, biomechanics-based personal training, balanced bodywork, and craniosacral therapy. It’s incredibly easy for a prospective client to get overwhelmed by that much variety. I organized these modalities into clear, scannable sections that focus heavily on how a client will feel rather than just the clinical definitions. By using intentional, gentle bullet points, someone suffering from chronic burnout or mystery fatigue can instantly see themselves in the text and know they are in the right place.
4. Taking the Anxiety Out of the Next Step
For marginalized communities or people weary of healthcare spaces, booking a consultation can feel terrifying. We rewrote the booking process to be completely transparent, mapping out exactly what happens during a Discovery Call. It removes the guesswork and makes taking that first step feel safe, predictable, and supportive.
The Outcome
The true measure of a copywriting project isn't just a clean layout; it's how it makes the business owner feel. When Zephyr read the final copy, it moved them to tears. By capturing their voice, their story, and the true heart behind their work, we took a massive entrepreneurial weight off their shoulders, leaving them with copy that feels deeply authentic, intentional, and true to their brand.
